Loki, god of fire! God of Tricksters! God of Quantum mechanics! Quantum? Well, who else would switch photons between waves and particles when you’re not looking?

Many moons ago, one of my re-enactor friends had a silly pet peeve about the Frisian hats that people were wearing for their norse personas. He went on for several minutes about how the cultures were distinct and the right hats for everyone. Therefore, I ensured that Loki was wearing the wrong hat just for you, Mike!

I found the right one this time!

Why is it that the monsters never just step on the power rangers while they’re morphing? Why don’t the monsters attach while Sailor Moon is getting changed? Sure, it fills time and saves on animation, but there are certain logical problems.

Trying to draw Elf with a more feminine shape was very difficult because, at that time in my life, I didn’t have much experience with the female shape. Most fantasy artists clearly have never seen a woman up close in real life.

Fencer’s first line is sung to the Final Fantasy victory music. https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/164193?id=164193

Right, so I’m kinda dumb.. I am on a trip to Toronto collecting some stuff that has been in mom’s basement since I left. I made a reminder in my phone before I left to bring today’s Vindalf with me.
And I forgot to load it before I left.
So then, I texted my beautiful wife to send me the comic so I could post it.
And I asked her to send me the wrong one. I noticed this long after she has gone to bed. I am not going to text her and wake her up, because I want to stay married.
Please enjoy this photo of a T-Rex instead of the scheduled Vindalf.

Tumblr: *rolls out “best stuff first”*

My blog:

on the one hand this is a joke post because lol i have never made a good post in my life, but also, if i hadn’t made the connection

between this update and my sudden nosedive in activity, i would have been really fucking discouraged about all the shit i’ve been working on lately. i guarantee there are people on tumblr right now who haven’t made that connection, and who are trying to figure out why suddenly no one likes anything they’ve made. and that fucking sucks.

Reminder to go into your settings and turn off ‘Best Stuff First’ because my activity’s tanked a couple days ago for no reason so this stuff IS happening.

You WILL miss content with that setting on.

i ain’t joking when i say that my activity looks JUST like this too and i wasn’t sure why

I can only find the option on the app under Settings > Dashboard Preferences.

To support content creators do us a favour and turn off “Best stuff first”. Open the tumblr app (Android or iOs) and go to “Settings > Dashboard Preferences. And please reblog this post, so that everybody will see this. Thank you very much!

I assumed I just wasn’t writing very well, but maybe it’s not just me.

Am I supposed to pay to get my writing in front of followers now?

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled sci-fi content because this is important for app users, and it sucks. We all follow blogs because we want to see their content, not to have a crappy algorithm decide what’s best.

This blog is down approximately 80%, which doesn’t affect me other than as an annoyance (as this is a hobby and @okayto is small-ish) but the issue undoubtedly hurts others.

Below are instructions for turning it off. You have to do it individually–it doesn’t matter if a blog you follow turns it off, you’ll still be affected unless you do the same.

We don’t normally reblog PSAs, but this is very clearly affecting us, too! If you haven’t been getting your daily dose of RPG humor, this setting is probably why. Turn it off so you can see all the silly shit players say!

If you could please turn off that feature it would be great, it’s really taking away all the exposure artists get on this flaming heap of trash of a site and it sucks

Psionic brains-in-a-jar are deceptively easy to defeat. It is a known law of physics that wizards have much lower HP than fighters. This is partly due to game balance in RPGs, where every bonus needs a trade off. In Skyrim, you can break this system if you use the right skills and see how it gets too easy.

It is also re-enforced by the idea of the mind/body split good old Rene Descartes liked to talk about. The idea is that mind and body being distinct things, and our spirits wear bodies like pilots in a giant fighting robot. (Probably not how Descartes thought about it, but much cooler).

We see it all over popular media that nerds must be weak, and pretty people must be dumb. It’s supposed to be a shock if the pretty person happens to be smart, or it makes them into a super hero.

I manage to buck this trend by being both ugly and dumb*, take that society!

*joking. I’m adorable. But if I was half as smart as I like to think I am: I would have better things to do than posting old comics on tumblr.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.

The sun and I do not get along. I think I have gotten a major sunburn every year for…ever. Even through SPF50+ sunscreen it gets me. Must be the Irish side of my family showing through. When I got smart enough to stay covered and stop burning so much that’s then the heat stroke started.

I once had heat stroke for about a week straight in Basic before it took me down. That’s one major reason I’m not in the army today. Vindalf is a dwarf, evolved for living underground in Svartalfheim. The sun is always trying to kill him, and me; the sun is just a deadly maniac and best avoided.

WOOHOO! 300* followers! And like, only 250 of them are bots! Thank you everyone who is not a bot for following my stupid comic. I’m going to have to get back to work and make more of these soon. I *almost* remember how I made that background, and that all of my characters are named.

Of course, life has moved on from when I was nerding around in my parent’s basement with my friends. These days my wife won’t let me nerd around in the basement at all! She keep making me live above ground and deal with children. Ugh, things were so much easier before I had to adult.

Vindalf’s adventures might not be quite as wacky now, so I’ll have to pester my kids into doing something amusing that I can draw.

HEMA types on youtube can devote hundreds of hours to the usefulness and historical accuracy of throwing knives. The skill of throwing a knife seems to be mostly a sport or carnival trick. In combat, you would almost never want to let go of your weapon, unless you were definitely going to have an advantage. Sometimes, a distraction is all you need to get in your winning strike. More often, you end up short a knife and exposed.

That dagger is based on one Fencer used to own. It never threw very well. Yes, we tried.
